Registration for the 37th MCM and MCM 10K opens at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7. Bookmark the registration site and have your credit card ready to process that whooping $92 entry fee because this race is known to sell out fast.
In 2005, the race deemed to be “the people’s favorite marathon” sold out in 62 hours and 9 minutes. Last year, the race sold out in 6 days! 30,000 runners race to pay $92 so they can run 26.2 miles. That says something…
Lucky for us, we are saving a little bit of our legs and a little bit of our cash by signing up for the 10k. The 10K is around $50 cheaper than the marathon and the course is actually made up of the last 6.2 miles of the MCM course. (As Kyle pointed out last year, there is something hilarious about this race course. Can you spot it?)
Race day is October 28th and opening festivities begin at 7:50 a.m. with the race start at 8:00 a.m. The 10K starts in between the Washington Memorial and the Capitol. Watching the sun rise at the historic site was one of my favorite parts of the race in 2010…hudling in the metro station to keep warm with Christy and 100 other runners, while considering eating a pre-race morning hot dog were pretty good perks as well.
Sign up to run with us or just come out and cheer us on!
