George W. Bush, Al Gore, Sarah Palin, Mikuláš Dzurinda

Politicians run for a living. Some just run faster than others. I was surprised that George W. Bush beat Sarah Palin and Al Gore when he ran the 1993 Houston Marathon in 3:44:52. It took Former Governor Palin 3:59:36 to run the 2005 Humpy’s Marathon and it took Al Gore 4:54:25 to finish when he ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 1997.

Mikuláš Dzurinda, Prime Minister of Slovakia, beat all the US politicians when he ran the Malokarpatsky Marathon in 2:54:57. Oh, btw he has run 13 marathons.

Oprah, Mario Lopez, Katie Holmes, Will Ferrell, Ed Norton, Natalie Morales

Oprah Winfrey beat Mario Lopez with a MCM time of 4:29:20. Mario may look like a beast, but it took him 5:41:41 to run the Boston Marathon. He didn’t even beat Katie Holmes who took 5:29:58 to finish the New York City Marathon. I’d keep making jokes about his time, but he didn’t give up. In 2011, he came back and ran the NYC Marathon with an improved time of 4:23:30. Way to stick with it!

In 2003, Will Ferrell ran the Boston Marathon in 3:56:12. Ed Norton and Ryan Reynolds weren’t far in front of him when they ran the NYC Marathon. Ed finished in 3:48:01 and Ryan finished in 3:50:22. You know who beat them all? Pretty lady, Natalie Morales with a NYC Marathon time of 3:31:02. Get it, girl!

David Lee Roth, Flea, Alanis Morissette, P. Diddy

David Lee Roth took 6:04:43 to run the New York City Marathon, but not all musicians are that slow. Flea, the bassist from Red Hot Chili Peppers ran the 2011 LA Marathon in 3:53:00. Right behind him are Alanis Morissette and Sean Combs who both ran the New York City Marathon in just over 4 hours. P. Diddy finished in 4:14:54 and Alanis in 4:28:45.

Lance Armstrong, Apolo Ohno, Justin Leonard

Let’s end on an inspirational note. We all expect athletes to finish faster than everyone else on the list, and I wish I could say that they didn’t all have the best times, but they do.  Several actors and politicians came “close” to Apolo Ohno’s 2011 New York City Marathon time of 3:25:12 – Okay, 25 minutes isn’t close at all when it comes to running. Even golfer Justin Leonard finished his Dallas White Rock Marathon in under 4 hours with a time of 3:54:40. And of course Lance Armstrong ran a marathon in a notable time. In 2007, he completed the New York City Marathon in 2:46:42.
